Writer and direcor of Charlie Casanova Terry McMahon has been awarded the RKO Pictures Hartley-Merrill International Screenwriting Prize in Cannes and Los Angeles, the Tiernan McBride Screenwriting Award, and selected for the Tribeca Film Festival All Access Program. Commissioned to write the screenplays Soul Cages for Daryl Hannah, Swordland and Cancer Cowboy for Paddy Breathnach, Fear for Robert Pejo, Savage for Valerie Red Horse, Slice for Richie Smith, and, co-written with Mark O’Rowe, Sisk for Brian O’Malley, along with the original spec screenplays The Dancehall Bitch, Simple Simon, Oliver Twisted, Charlie Casanova and The War Room. Central roles as an actor include, alongside David Carradine, Dangerous Curves, Don Wilson in Moving Target and Jonathan Pryce and Paul Bettany in The Suicide Club. Directed the feature film, Charlie Casanova which was selected for the Feature Narrative Competition in SWSW, Austin, Texas, 2011.

Awarded The Gregory Peck Scholarship to UCD Film School

Directed several stage productions including Ken Harmon’s debut Speed Metal Farmers

Invited to The Moonstone Filmmakers Lab to direct scenes from The Dancehall Bitch


Member of the Faculty and Acting and Screenwriting Tutor at The Irish Film Academy
plus visiting lecturer to DIT, NUI, and the John Huston Film School, Galway


Central roles in several features including The Suicide Club alongside Jonathan Pryce and Paul Bettany, Dangerous Curves alongside David Carradine, Moving Target alongside Don Wilson, plus David Caffrey’s Bolt and most recently appeared as Charlie in Paul Fraser's 'My Brothers.'
