    Hi Simon,

    I hope you dont mind me sending you a message. Dave Tracey suggested that I send you a quick word on a problem I am having.

    My problem is that many of the films that I produce are skipping in some DVD players and not in others. I even got a professional DVD duplication company to do one job lot for me and 17 have been returned.

    This is my usual run of events.
    save footage to computer from camera in AVI
    open project - DV-Pal Folder - click widescreen 48khz
    edit

    Adobe dynamic link - send to encore

    Click advanced - max audio/video bitrate 6Mbps
    audio Transcoding scheme Dolby Digital

    usually around 3-4GB, never over 4.3GB
    I cant change write speed at this stage which is a flaw in my Adobe Software I think so I "Build" to DVD Image.
    burn image using ImgBurn at a write speed of 4 or 2
    I use all good brands of disk, all 4.7 and 16x 120min

    Is there any part of the above process where i am neglecting to do something.

Did a BA in Journalism and Media Studies - then promptly got a job in tourism and left the field for a decade. Now I am taking a year out to see if I can work something out in film and documentary.
Credits:
The odd short film and documentary in University. Did work experience on "A touch of Frost" for Yorkshire television as a runner. Worked briefly as an offline editior (doing news stories) for a TV station called WBS in Uganda, it was then that I got offered a job with a safari company, which led to my unintended career in tourism. Now back to square one...
Favourite Films:
- Pi & Requim for a Dream by Darren Aronofsky - love those geeky camera toys, you know like the vibrator cam and the snorricam. Excellent movie though.

- A Fistful of Dollars. W-i-d-e-screen! if only modern films could look as cheap and as fantastic as Sergio Leones classic. Clint knows how to pick a fight though: "I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughing. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it". Classic!

- The Big Lebowski. Nuff' said.

- 28 Days Later, The Signal & Crank 2 - Prosumer technology rules!

- Barton Fink. WTF?!

I have started buying DVD’s of the movies I used to love when I was a teenager, and I recently bought both Blade Runner (Final Cut 2 disc edition) and John Carpenters The Thing (Collector’s Edition) at the same time from Amazon.

Both Blade Runner and The Thing were released in the summer on 1982, and both did poorly in the box office. This was partly the fault of the summer’s biggest blockbuster, ET, which blew them out of the water. ET was of course an uplifting tale of an alien
