Michael, a native of Galway, started his career in film production and screenwriting before training as an actor at the Focus Theatre's Stanislavsky Studio in Dublin with the late Deirdre O’Connell. He went on to play Valentin in 'Kiss of the Spider Woman' and the Hero Hogan in Brendan Behan's 'Richard's Cork Leg'.

On moving to Britain Mike played Macduff for the Nottingham Playhouse's 1999 production of 'Macbeth', and Zackerman in Caryl Churchill's 'Serious Money'. He worked in the area of mask theatre playing The Dovre-Master and Strange Passenger in a full production of Ibsen's Peer Gynt directed by Vasile Nedelcu with Birmingham's Glasshouse Theatre, and in the specially commissioned mask production 'The Last Dinner'. In 2005 Mike acted in a new stage work, 'Deep in the Frozen Night' raising money on behalf of the Pakistan earthquake appeal. He has also worked in film playing award winning roles for S-I-A Films adaptation of Ray Bradbury's 'The Waiting Game', Nicolo Machiavelli in the historical drama 'Mona Lisa' and the 2007 feature film 'Nottingham Babylon'.

On his return to his hometown of Galway, Mike has played the infamous, libertine Ray in Conor McPherson’s ‘This Lime Tree Bower’, the Bird O’Donnell in Keane’s ‘The Field’ and Jap Kavanagh in Jimmy Murphy’s strong and tragic drama, The Kings of the Kilburn High Road, all with Heart N Crown Theatre company.

More recently he has played Mafia gangster Henry Hill (the Ray Liotta character in ‘Goodfellas’) for TG4’s award winning documentary ‘Mobs Americea’, been part of Dublin City Council’s Conserve Water internet advertising campaign (Speers Film), and debuted in a new play ‘Those Yellow Boots’ for the Druid Theatre Company during the Galway Arts Festival 08.

In 09 Michael appeared in debut feature ‘Rapt in Eire’ written by Robert Goodman shown at the Galway Film Fleadh, and acted in various TG4 dramas, playing characters as varied as 19th Century German Tailors to present day London Jewellers. He also appeared as a slightly confused footballer in the Irish National Lottery’s Campaign, "Everyone's a Winner" for the DDFH&B Group directed by Lena Beug.

In 2010 Mike has appeared with Mayo’s favourite sons playing ‘Sexy Mike’ in the Hardy Bucks pilot series for RTE, and has renewed his relationship with TG4 playing Boru’s servant, Lataen in the historical documentary Clontarf, and ‘Stopwatch Gang’ criminal, Lional Wright for the Mobs Canada documentary series.

He has just finished filming for a new independent feature length Thriller entitled 'Paper Rich' (Salthill Productions), due for release in 2012, in which he plays the lead role.
