Default Advice on buying hd/minidv camcorder please!

Hi,
I am a screenwriter who wants to break into directing. I am going to South Korea next month where I'm sure I will be able to pick up a half decent hd/minidv camcorder for much cheaper than it would be here or elsewhere. The trouble is I don't know the first thing about camcorders so I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. I am looking to spend anything up to 1000 euro. I would be grateful if someone could advise me on models and how much you think they would be over there.
Cheers...

for 1000 euros you will only get a consumer handheld type camcorder. Canon do a reasonable HD model (HV10). Don't know what it will cost over there, just be careful, there are fakes believe it or not, and the warranty will probably not be valid here.Go into a few shops here and ask to look at the different models, take a note of the prices too and then compare them.
