Default The Divine Beat

THE DIVINE BEAT is a fun and surreal music video I did here (Letterkenny) back in summer 2005.

The concept is what a Catholic Priest gets up to in his private time... which is all quite innocent off course! It stars Andrew Norry. Music by Robbie Mc Donald.

After watching this video, some of you might assume I dont like organized religion... Nah! Not me.

Hey Ger,

I quite liked your video even if I wasn't so hot about the tune. But you had some nice edits in there. How did you get the church to agree to allow you film in there?

The only strike against the film is I hate the titles. I'm a bit a font Nazi and they're horrible. But I liked the energy that went into the rest of it. Well done.

Hi Gerard,

I think it'd be useful if you put up what format you shot in, what you edited on, and how you compressed for youtube et cetera.

With regards to the vid, not my cup of tea, no offence, but I think it would benefit from a serious edit. A lot of the shots seem a little too long imo.

Good on you, you seem to have a lot on youtube, wish I could say the same!

Default tech info / how i got to shoot in a church

I was thinking of giving the tech information but I thought I would bore most people! It was shot on a Cannon XM2 in 4:3 aspect ratio (Ill be doing 16:9 from now on) and edited on the not too great ShowBiz Wizard so some shots do suffer from a wee drop in picture quality. I didnt upload this myself but I do handle the uploads personally these days. Shot just under an hour of footage. The big long PULL BACK to reveal in the gym is a Kubrick homage.

I painted the church a month beforehand. While on the job, I got the idea for the video. So I asked the Rev and he said... 'Sure, no problem'. Amazing what you get when you ask in a polite manner.
