Default Tin-Can-Man Wins Sydney

Double Win for Kavanagh's 'Tin Can Man' In Sydney

18 Sep 2007 |

Tin Can Man
Irish director Ivan Kavanagh's new feature 'Tin Can Man' has won two International Awards at this year's Sydney Underground Film Festival (7 -10 September). The film picked up the 'Boundary-Breaking Best Feature Award' in the International category and the 'International Best Actor' for Irish actor Patrick O'Donnell.

The black and white thriller, produced by Camera Stylo Films, tells the story of Peter (O'Donnell), recently dumped by his girlfriend, who one night hears a knock on his apartment door that will change his life forever.

'Tin Can Man' was shot on location in Dublin and Navan in March of this year. The film stars Patrick O'Donnell, who starred in Kavanagh's previous feature 'The Solution', Michael Parle and Christopher Kavanagh. It was shot by cinematographer Colin Downey, and edited by Ivan Kavanagh.

The festival dubbed the film a "surrealist merry-go-round that is tempered with the character dynamics of Haneke, and the cinematography of Aronofsky".

The award comes straight after Kavanagh's previous feature 'The Solution' won the Best Drama award at the Portobello Film Festival 2007 in London last month.

'Tin Can Man' will have its next screening at the Waterford Film Festival & The Bell Table Cinema Limerick special Screenings in November, before continuing on the international film festival circuit.
