Default Minicinefest - Ranelagh Arts Festival

Anybody got anything showing at this? It takes place in the Cinemobile in Ranelagh this Saturday 30th September.

Daniel O'Hara and Michael Dwyer are among the judges.

My second short 'Detached' is showing but as usual I will be unable to attend.

If anyone's at it remember to laugh heartily at my film!

Detached is my second short. It concerns one man and an interdepartmental training course. People laugh when they watch it but they're my friends so I need objective opinions.

It's in competition at the Kerry Film Festival and is also showing at a Filmbase film night Thursday Oct 5th (as well as the aforementioned Ranelagh MiniCineFest).

I am planning to put both my shorts up online soon and will post links.

In the meantime you can check out a still on the Kerry Festival programme: http://www.kerryfilmfestival.com/kff_2006.pdf

Red Wire Blue Wire will be making a showing in The MiniCineFest.
Should be fun watching the films in the cinemobile truck.

Will keep an eye out for Detached is I make it along as planned...

T'was a nice little fest alright. Good mix of films. Most of which I hadn't seen before. Which is always good. And the cinemobile is great.

There were two awards. A jury award and they gave the top five for that. Winner was a documentary called "Can I go to Jobstown, please." Or something like that. About a chinese taxi driver in Dublin who lost his front teeth when a fare punched him in the face in Jobstown. I really liked this and it was a deserving winner. Film came from the FilmBase documentary course.

Can't remember all the rest of the top five - "Detached" was funny and 5th and the great "The Boy with the Ever Open Jaw" was also in there.

Red Wire went down pretty well so I was happy.

Audience award was won by Baz Al-Rawi and can't remember title of the film but it was a nice Philip K. Dick type thing.

Edit:
Baz's film was called "Requiem for Rachel" - bit a Blade runner link if you get it.
(Just talking to Baz if you wondering where I got the new info...) Oh and congrats Baz!
