Default Hi & Looking for Projects!

Hey all.
Whoever set this site up, well done! It'll be a great way for people to get crews/cast together for all types of productions.

Anywho, I've just set up Flyboy Films (www.flyboyfilms.com ...pls excuse my poor web design skills!) this year in the hope of working on any and all types of shorts/Tv progs/anything! I'm into all things camera, especially Steadicam....trained in the US in May 06 with the Steadicam Ops Association would you believe! I can also turn my hand to editing, so long as it's Final Cut Pro!

So, I'm available! Get in touch if you are looking for someone with their own Canon XL1s/Final Cut edit suite or access to a Steadicam. My email is alan@flyboyfilms.com

Thanks for the welcome!

Still trying to get into Steadicam op'ing at the mo! I've always wanted to do it and thought a few months ago how I could do it. So I decided to invest in the Steadicam Operators course in Philadelphia, USA last May. I have to say, it was a great course and got to meet and be trained by loads of very nice guys who operate on high-end productions in the US. One of the instructors was Garrett Browne, the guy who invented Steadicam and who operated on Rocky and The Shining to name a few!

The training we received was really top notch...I thought we'd be trained on little baby Steadicams but no way! We were all kitted out with top of the line Steadicam Ultra 2's which retail about USD66000! Thank God I didn't break any of them!

So right now, I'm just trying to get any Steadicam projects I can get my hands on, so if you need a Steadicam operator, I'm your man!!

Cheers

Alan

And here I was thinking you two would spark up a deadly rivalry.
Steadicams at dawn!
Now there's an idea for a short short. (not a very good one albeit)

Might need a third steadicam to shoot it though.

Glad I don't have any competition on here yet.

!!
I think myself and Stephen are at opposite ends of the spectrum as far as skill and experience go. I'm only a newbie!

Stephen, if you're ever looking for an assistant on any shoots let me know. Hopefully I learned something at the SOA!

Cheers

Alan

Alan,

You'd need to go to a whole other school to assist for Steadicam
It takes many, many years experience as a focus puller before you become a good steadicam focus puller. Sometimes pulling focus for steadicam is harder then operating the steadicam itself.
I do get calls for steadicam on shorts all the time though, most of which i cant do, so ill pass on your name and number to those productions if you like. The more time you spend in the rig and on sets figuring out how to do shots the better.
Hope this helps,

Think of it as the young pretender versus the aging champ.
With a drunken irish coach and some inspirational music, I bet you could take him.

Hi Stephen

As a low-time Steadicam Op, you're right....I need as much time in the rig as I can get my hands on. I'd be very grateful if you could pass on my number to anyone looking for an Op for a short that you can't do.....appreciate it.

My number is below.

Thanks

Alan
