Default New Venue

Was onto Filmbase and they've kindly offered one of their training rooms for the Sit-Ins. For free! The room would have AV facilities for showing films etc... which is great.

The best available days would be Monday or Friday. Neither of which are as handy as our current Thursday. Reason is that these are the days that the rooms aren't taken up with training.

What do you think? Which day would you prefer? Or if you really think neither are a goer say so.

Hmmm, Mondays are very Mondayish. But then, whereas Fridays are not Mondayish at all, they are very Fridayish, which could be a problem.

My vote is for Friday, but I enjoy the Sit-Ins and will do Mondays if that works best for most.

Well done for taking the initiative Jay, this seemed to have been sidelined by us all, partially because of the two significant deadlines, one of which past today, the other of which will have me up late tomorrow working on rewrites!

Putting my two pence in I'd prefer Monday evenings as it's more likely that I'll be away or busy on Fridays.

Maybe the Mondayishness of Mondays is what's good. Get us all of to a good start for the rest of the week/month...

I'd be swaying towards the Mondays as well.

It's a way to take the Mondayishness out out Monday (hold on, then you'd have no word ). Anyway I'd prefer Monday mostly because I can't guarantee I'd be around on a Friday. Although if Friday is the popular vote, then I could try and make the effort once a month

Dammit Cian, I thought for a second I had a compatriot in my quest of D&B appreciation. And also, for a moment thought "hey, I could record it too."

dammit dammit dammit! Am I such a loser that I like the damn show? No that can't be it. You're all wrong. Wrong I tell's ya?

Well, like I said, i enjoy the Sit-Ins and will make either night.

Btw Jay, how long have we got in the Filmbase room before we're kicked out? And where shall we go when we get kicked out? Across to Nealons or straight to sin é?

...or somewhere new?

I'm on a course on Mondays in Filmbase but can pop along and say hello when I'm on me break. Fridays is right out.

I can't think of anything that keeps me FROM going to either night so both are good for me. So really this post was of no use.....and away I go.........

Default Ermm..

I'm busy every Monday night, so I couldn't make any more sit-ins, which would be sad, for me at last. so I'll add my lightweight tu'pence worth of a vote against Mondays.

I know Fridays are more Friday-ish, but are they really quite as Friday-ish as we all imagine?

I mean, yes, occiasionally one has some socialising to do, but the sit-ins are only once a month, and anyway we could hold them fairly early, with the screenings from 7-8.30. That way people could still head on afterwards.

I suppose the other thing against Fridays is people heading out of Dublin for the weekend. Especially in summer. But nobody does this every weekend, do they?
And the sit-ins are only once a month.

Well done for finding an AV room, that's great news.
Vote for Fridays!

Okay, so Monday the 5th or Friday the 9th in Filmbase.

We have approx 4 films to show, each of which will be followed by brief talk/Q&A (aren't they?).

So who's first?

Default either or.

Either is a match as someone else posted it's only one night a month.
Looking forward to it.

Okay looks like the Monday is winning. Anyone else got a preference? Will need to get back onto Filmbase very early next week to confirm booking.

Was also thinking that we could watch some Blindspot and Jameson entries?

Sorry to be losing you Arran!

Unfortunately I'm one of those people who goes away a lot at the weekend and Friday evening isn't so good.

Just talked to Jennifer in Filmbase and have booked Training Room 3 for Monday 5th Feb. Depending on how we get on I'll then book the same venue for the rest of the year.

This room has a projector which is nice.

Might be worth confirming that booking - Vinny Murphy's ScreenStudio course is held on Mondays in Training Room 3. They've had a lot of problems with double-bookings there recently.

Hmmm... She did say she thought there might be something else on then but didn't have it in the diary. Training Room 1 is also available but doesn't have AV yet.

Default No worries.

No worries, it looked as if Monday was emerging as the clear favorite.
Shame Thursdays isn't available (like the sit-ins) but obviously that's a Filmbase thing.
Thanks for your nice words Jason; I'm sorry not to join in and see everyone else's work too. If you ever change the night in future, drop me a line and I'll come haring over. I'd like to show my own film some time as well, when its finished, we are just at rough cut stage at the moment.
Enjoy, and all the best- Arran.

So this Monday coming then?

Super! Looking forward to seeing a few pieces. Is there a definitive schedule for events on the night or will we just see how it goes and schedule for later meets?

How many films will we have to show?

Well I can bring my submission for the Blindspot competition - that should eat up a good 20 seconds.

I can also bring Detached or Slots - my two shorts.
